averages 5 days per person per year in both large and smaller businesses and that
the median training spend per employee is £300.

Time off for training: as from April 2010, employees of businesses
with 250 or more employees will have the right to request time off (unpaid) for
training.

Apprenticeships Bill: the government has requested the Low Pay
Commission to research the idea of a National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
(apprentices are currently exempt from the NMW).
