Blacklisting of union members: as from 2 March 2010, new
regulations prohibit the compilation, use, sale or supply of blacklists containing
details of trade union members and activities, where the purpose of such lists is to
discriminate against workers on grounds of their union membership or activities.

Statutory maternity, paternity and adoption pay: as from 4 April 2010, the
standard rates are increased.

Time off for training: as from April 2010, employees of businesses
with 250 employees or more will have the right to request time off (unpaid) for
training.

Whistleblowing: employment tribunals will have the power to pass
on whistleblowing allegations to the relevant regulatory authorities for claims
arising on or after 6 April 2010.

Data protection: as from 6 April 2010, the Information Commissioner
has the power to fine those who deliberately or knowingly serious breach the DPA.
